Delray Beach Children’s Garden: Nurturing Eco-consciousness

Shelly Zacks was ready to retire and take it easy.  Then she read Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder by Richard Louv.  With dedication and a community that galvanized around her vision, the Delray Beach Children’s Garden came into being.  Today it stands as a garden, a laboratory, and a playscape where children can go to reconnect with nature and rekindle that innate sense of adventure and discovery that comes with being a child in the natural outdoors.
