My Trans Story: Alice is about an older transgender woman finding her way in life, coming out after having lived most of her life in the wrong gender. She shares with her hopes and fears in a heartfelt way. Her story tells a story of being transgender in a modern society that is often so fixated on gender and sex as two unseparated categories and that your genitals govern who you are to be in society. With more awareness of transgender issues, we are starting to explore gender with a different perspective, and what we are finding is an incredible diversity of people who experience their gender and gender identity in such a different way.
Transgender Film Project – My Genderation
My Genderation is an ongoing film project celebrating transgender lives and experience. In 2011 Fox Fisher and Lewis Hancox both took part in a mainstream documentary in the UK. Afterwards, they formed My Genderation and started making films about trans people around them and documenting events. My Genderation is now ran by Fox Fisher and their partner, Owl. What makes My Genderation unique is that it is entirely trans led, and its content made by trans people, about trans people, for a wider audience.
Their first broadcast was on BBC with one of our documentaries and after that we teamed up with All About Trans and made 25 short films about trans people, 8 of which were shown on Channel 4.
